    rpm--mph

    hit a bird today which smashed my speedo on my gs850
    can any one tell me the rpm i need to be doing for the following speeds
    30mph,50mph,60mph and 70mph
    i'll use this as a guide til i sort a new speedo out

    May be of some use: (gs 650)

    In 5th gear as follows:
    30=2500RPM
    50=4000RPM
    60=4600RPM
    70=6000RPM

      5K about 60mph 6K about 80mph

        A good rule of thumb for 750's & up, from that era. 1000rpm = appx 15mph. 2000 = 30, 3000 = 45, 4000 = 60, etc. It will be very close.

          Yup, rather close. Don't know if the G and GL models are geared any different, but my (wife's) '82 GL does 14mph/1000rpm.
          That is according to GPS, which is conveniently close to what the speedo reads, too. \\/

          Therefore:
          3000 rpm = 42 mph
          4000 rpm = 56 mph
          5000 rpm = 70 mph

              7,200 105 ish, (had to do it once you know, damn 85 mph speedo)
