I have a Canadian model 82 1100E (living in Canada, that makes sense...:-D). The bike has a Kerker canister 4-1 exhaust and pod filters. I jetted it for the filters with minimal trouble, spending maybe two Saturday afternoons and pulling the carbs 5-6 times in total for fine tuning. The OEM needle in my carbs is adjustable with 5 grooves, same as a Dynojet needle. Except it has a very fine taper with no step changes like the Dynojet ones. I attribute much of my ease of jetting to sticking with these needles and not getting a Dynojet kit.
So, my question is, has anybody in the US tried installing a set of Canadian OEM needles instead of the Dynojet ones just to see if they work better with pods and exhaust or are easier to tune?
If anyone is interested, I can see if I can find a part # to order from a dealer north of the 49th. Given the issues that the Dynojet kits seem to have, it would be worth a try to me if I did not have the adjustable needles to start with.
