Guest repliedyeah...problem was selling it wasn't the intent. I never thought of selling till last week when I got the baby news.

Its ashamed really.. Ya dont build a bike like this to sell it.
It would have been way better to restore it to its original form if selling it was the intent.
My .02.

Guest repliedEven though I posted alot of final pics a couple pages back...I figured I'de post a couple more in case it sells. I don't think I posted any with the bum stop removed.

Guest repliedThe muffler was installed by PO and I don't know what the part number is..sorry.
Yeah, I started the auction at $960, which I feel was low but I'm hoping to have enough interest to get alittle bidding action going. Oh well ...we'll see. I have had over 250 views and have close to 20 watchers in less than 24 hours. I'm in position where I need it to go so someone might get it for a steal. It would be nice for it to approach $2000...but that is now out of my hands.
At least the bidders will have this whole build thread to review exactly what they are getting.

Guest repliedAwall,
before you sell it and forget all about it...do you have any idea what the
part number is for the GS1100 GL Vance and Hines '4 into 1' header and silencer ?
Good luck with the baby...was up all night with the 2-year old, she didn't want to sleep...had to wake my wife because otherwise I would have killed the little one...on the other hand, saw an episode of Discovery's 'Senior vs Junior' while awake at 04.00 h...apparently a popular motorcycle television show in the US ?
best regards
G

Guest repliedWent on a great ride today around Beaufort, SC. Sooo enjoyable. I think I might need a whole new bevel gear though. The spline rod coming from the back of the bevel gear seems to be leaking and has alittle play in it. I changed the secondary fluid and found the old to have a metalic look to it. The new fluid seems to be getting the same metalic tint. Maybe a bearing or something inside. Looks like a replacement will be 40-50 bucks on ebay.
I may be needing to sell my bike though.Have a wonderful baby on the way and could use the money right now. I don't have the time or funds to repair the bevel gear and I'll be on the road for the summer. I hate to see the thing sit and could use the boost of income right now. I've listed it in the bikes for sale to see if anyone wants to make an offer. I'm not sure what would be a good $$$$ to get from it?
If that doesn't work I might open it up on Ebay.
It won't be my last GS or last build.

Guest repliedUPDATE TO THE PVC SPACERS USED IN CLIPONS:
Many were worried about the pvc spacers I used to mount the cbr clipons onto the stock fork tubes. I've put several days of riding on the bike and had to save the bike from falling over once by holding the bars...almost totally loosing it.
To date I have had no issues with slippage. bars are rock solid for what I have put them through. My confidence is high with them. I did sand both sides of the spacers which may or may not have helped any. The 2 pieces of pvc on each tube do not touch end to end. I was able to crank down on the clipons and have room for more tightening. Just FYI.Last edited by Guest; 03-13-2011, 10:07 PM.

Guest repliedHere is a pic of the current mobile phone mounting since alot have asked. I want to do something alittle lower profile to the stock handle bar mounts. Also, pic of the side covers with clear coat sanded off. Still need alittle polish or some lemon pledge.

Guest repliedFinally got the swing arm together...was a little distracted as I found out my wife is pregnant! Doctors visits and family visits. WOO HOO
Anyway, I should have some time tomorrow to get everything back together. I changed the secondary and final gear drive oil with 75-90w. Need to install swing arm, add fresh oil again and add new brake fluid to the rear system. I'll get some pics to keep things interesting.
I've been through almost everything on this bike. Just for good measure I will be refreshing the front brake system soon and I still need to get to replacing the intake boots. I plan to do a valve job at the same time then finish with a carb sync. New braided brake lines and tires are slated for this summer.
I just wanna RIIIIIIIDDDDDEEEEE! Weather has been great. 70s and sunny!

Guest repliedRear end in pieces. Cleaned every bolt and have most parts painted. Only thing left to paint is the swingarm itself.
