Bottom fork bolt rounded? Here's how

I had to replace my fork seals and the po had rounded the bottom bolt that screws up into the end of the damping rod from the bottom of the fork. I had access to a tig welder so I welded an Allen key into the bolt head. The contraction from the weld cooling seemed to loosen the bolt and an 8mm socket fit over the chopped off Allen key and out it came no problem. Seeming as how I done this on Sunday with no way to get another proper bolt ,I put the old one back in, Allen key and all. Not noticeable and I know there shouldn't be a problem next time...Nick
