As I mentioned grounding was never a strong suite with the GS engineers which over the years has continued to exacerbate electrical problems. Even a perfect stock configuration is a problem waiting...

OK, the problem is that conventional motorcycle terminology is that the wound three phase device is called a stator. Each of the 3 wires of the stator is called a leg whether it is Wye or Delta...

Especially now that you say you have the fuse box hot, I would guess you lost a ground.

There are usually two ring lugs on the B/W connected to the harness. This is the backbone of the grounding...

The only fuse that is HOT with key OFF is the Main.

You need to turn on the key to power all other circuits.

This is all self explanatory in the factory schematic.

I don't want to be overly pedantic about the use of "generator" other than to insure were are talking about a leg on the stator.

Glad to see you are aware of meggers; the 5K RPM test is to...

Thanks for putting the extra effort into organizing your measurements. Without going through every measurement I will highlight a few things.

OK, and I understand why you might want to do that test but the result doesn't point to anything specific (i.e. actionable).

If you want to measure voltage drops measure them directly without a...

As Tom said, we are looking for leakage of the stator at 5K RPM which should be isolated from the chassis, frame, battery ground. Want close to zero volts (no more than 1-2 VAC)

Some of these bike have some pretty crappy grounding so just replacing the stock setup is not even that great of an idea.

    Ohms law is V=IR

Relating that to the pictured analogy, the voltage push (or pressure) required to overcome a given ohm resistance is in proportion to the amount of current in amp (flow) you want....

When you put a current path (e.g. a wire connecting a load) to the battery, current flows through that current path (cp). The current though the CP is the same no matter where you measure the current...

Hot means poor connection. There is no exception, regardless if it is something loose, dirty, corroded, or otherwise compromised.

The simple reason is that a larger resistance will dissipate more...

Did a quick look at your 5k voltages. Assume the bouncing is charging noise interacting with the voltmeter(not to worry). So just average the numbers 13-14.2==>13.6v which is lower than 2.5k rpm....

Funny to see this thread where OP had grounded the B/W to the "negative" post of the solenoid LOL.
