    Alternative fork guard?

I replaced my beat up old front fender today thanks to a new-used one from Blizzard (thanks buddy!!), and while doing this I couldn't help but notice how aesthetically unappealing the plastic front fork guard is on my 79' GS1000.

Has anyone ventured to swap one from another bike, or totally remove it...or maybe make something to put in its place? I can't be alone thinking this thing is ugly?

    Any ideas out there...

    Thanks, Jeff

yeah i took mine off too...

but the forks look kind of longish without it there.

I wonder if there is something aftermarket out there that could take it's place?

Thats what I was wondering bushido about aftermarket, and after looking at it ..just popping it off for a look, isn't an option..it would probably have to be "broken" off, or disassemble the forks..which isn't happening.

          I'm going to keep looking..

            Agreed, they are ugly.
What about the chrome ones on the 850 and some "L" models?
Should be able to sway them out. They look like an upgrade.

Mine had the chrome one, took it off. It has a Tarozzi fork brace which fits down near the fender and shortens the look of the forks from the bottom end. I actually like that it makes the brake line junction visible (on mine when removed).
