Tire Sizes 81gs1100e 110/90/19 and 130/90/17 on rear?

Just double checking on tire size for my '81 gs1100e.

I am going to buy a set of dunlop spitfires. 110/90/19 for front and 130/90/17 for the rear. Just wanted to double check with the group before purchasing.

Has anyone rode with this setup, and what did you think?

Spitfires are OK, I guess. Nothing special.
    Old tech stuff.

Check your front rim width. Not sure if it will support a 110 or just a 100.

Thanks I guess I better double check, I searched a bunch of threads on here and thought that I was seeing guys running 110's on the front.

What are you running on your 850's? I think they are the same rims on there.

110/90-19 will fit depending upon the fender but normally just run 100/90-19 on an 1100E

Well, can't go by the rims on my 850s.

On my '80 and my wife's '82, we have the stock 1.85 width, but in the different spoke patterns, appropriate for their years.

My son's '81 is wearing rims from an '82 1100G, so it has a 2.15 rim up front.

But they all have 100/90-19 tires.

Humm, I just ordered the damn things, I am running a stock fender. Do you think I should change the order or risk the tight fit?

Is the difference 10 mil? 5 on each side I assume.

The rim is only 1.85" wide so a 100 tire is a better fit although that doesn't stop some people from going with 110's.

I had a 110 in the garage, it looks like it should clear the fender.
I'll let you know how it squeezes on the rim tomorrow. Will there be a big
difference in performance (the 100's compared to the 110?).

The 110 will fit and be ok but it will steer like a truck/haley. Better with a 100/90

The 110s will require more effort to initiate a turn and might require holding that line in a turn.

The 100s will feel more nimble. Not only will they turn easier, they will probably require no effort to stay in that turn.

                          Thanks guys,

I guess I'll order the 100 and send back that 110. The last thing I want is more work turning this thing. Thanks for the insight guys, I appreciate it!
