Thanks again for the condolences, folks.
I haven't gotten any additional information about the accident.
There's a funeral mass this Saturday, being held in the Episcopal church his father used to be a priest at.

A scholarship memorial fund has been set up for the girls via Charles Schwab. I can give that information via PM if anybody is so moved.

          update:

A year (and more) has come and gone.
Nate's widow just graduated from college (at the tender age of 46)
Nate's birthday is in two weeks
and his brother took his ashes and sealed them in an urn with concrete, which will be dropped somewhere in the ocean.

          Check out the urn:

          How cool is that?

Clutch lever. Engraved with name and dates. I get a big kick out of it
              RIP, Nate!
