    I did a 18t-Front/49t-Rear, straight conversion to 530 gearing.
It fit perfectly on my 78 750.

    I bought a 530-116 Link sportbike chain from ebay.($64)
It's listed for the gsxr/cbr/zx/z1 1000cc+ modern sport bikes.
Fit like a glove, didn't have to remove any links.

Not trying to hijack, just wondered how it turned out?

Boy this stuff is confusing. What did you end up putting on your 78 gs1000?

I am looking up the parts for mine and just called Z1. They suggested that a 17/49 with 114 or 116 link chain would get me to just a smidge more torquey than stock.

I hope all that is correct??

.... also, they did not have the gold or any colored chains to go with the upgrade.
