Raask rearset in the way.... :(

    Hi there.
    I'm new to this forum.
    I own a GS 550 1980, wich I'm redoing as a Scrambler/Café thingy.

The thing is I've got this set of Raask rearsets. (Or what do you call it)

Anyway. The righthandside with the rearbrake, seems to get in the way of the kickstarter.

What's the solution on that? I thought of extending the axl of the kickstarter, but that just seems like a bad idea. Also I thought of redoing the kickstarter, but I can't really figure out how I'd do it though.

    Any ideas are welcome.

Cherrybomb, without pictures it's kinda tough to diagnose your situation, but I have some rearsets on a Yamaha RD400 with a kick starter. The peg just has to be folded up to clear the kick starter then folded back down after she's running.
      Is it that simple?

BTW omar's( http://www.rearsets.info/photo2.html#suzuki )is the distributor for Raasks rearsets. I have them on my 1100, and I have no issues, but there's no kick starter either

Sorry! I didn't explain it right.
It's not the footpeg that's in the way, it's the lever for the rearbrake. Ill try an get a picture of it, but my phone keeps ****ing up on me.

Found this picture on google. The link-thing and the kickstarter are just alot closer than on this picture.

I see your dilemma know. The easy fix would be to heat up your kick start lever and bend it to a position that doesn't foul on the brake lever/rod. It's a fairly common mod on flattrack bikes. Keep us posted! Paul

I was not aware that any of the '80 GSes had a kick starter.

Apparently this one does. Also my 400 and another 550 had one too. Where abouts are you from? US? I'm from Denmark, Europe.

Yep, as shown in my profile (look in the upper right corner).

Kick starters after '80 might be a Euro thing.

Or a customised thing, the kickstart parts fit right into the later 550s, at least for a few years.
