    That helps affirm my suspicion.

It's hard to find that many 900/1100Fs for sale in the US at one time, never mind a specific locality.

I did a nationwide Craigslist search, and found only six 900Fs for sale in the whole US. Their asking prices were:

    $3,250
    $1,950 (non oem paint)
    $2,700
    $1,500 (Rough)
    $4,800

And of course, the bike that started the thread. That's all that came up in the whole USA. As you can see from the prices above, the original bike with oem paint and in very good shape is priced quite a bit less than the others of comparable shape.

    Now then, 1100Fs;

    $5,000
    $4,000
    $4,800
    $4,000
    $6,000
    $4,500

    That's it. Big bucks.

A lot of times, CL asking prices are pretty wacky, but these are in line with what I've seen 900/1100Fs go for on ebay. Nice 900Fs usually go for $2,600-$4,000, and 1100Fs go for $3,500-$6,000.

Actually there is a good reason for that in BC. Keeping a bike older than 25 years in good shape or restored qualifies one for Collector Plate status. Translation ? $200 insurance versus $1000 insurance. Both my bikes and Trevor's are Collector plated.....

By the way that was a nation wide search on Kijiji. I didn't check CL

Wow..I never would have guessed that there were that few in all of the US. No wonder they are more $$. Maybe we could make some money importing? You will have to forgive me as it is such a rare occasion that something is actually cheaper here.
But....you guys paid less for sure when they were new.

The USA got a LOT of GS1100E models in '82 and '83 though. I remember a guy at a dealership telling me back when I was bike shopping in late '83 that Suzuki's top three sellers for 1982 were the RM125 dirt bike #1, the GS550L #2, and the GS1100E #3.

I wouldn't be surprised if there were as many CB900Fs sold in Canada as there were GS1100Es. Maybe more.

I wonder if there is a way to see sales numbers for those bikes in Canada vs USA?

I doubt it, things like that corporations tend to keep secret for a while, then (pre computer days) info like that just disappeared after a decade or two.

A silver and blue CB900F has been one of the few bikes left that I would really like to own (along with a silver monoshock GPZ750). The problem is that they are few and far between, and when I find one close by worth buying, it's $3k.

That first one I posted was only $1800 obo. Maybe get it for $1500 and with your exchange rate today that would be $1398.06 not too shaby.

By the way...can you tell it is raining here today? Just a bit bored.

That is EXACTLY what I want - an '82, blue/silver, and stock. That is a $3,000ish bike here in the states.

If it were in southern Ontario (meaning a long one day round trip drive), I'd be really tempted to try and get it. I know a guy who imported a CBR1100XX Super Blackbird from Canada. It was kind of a pain, but not terribly expensive (only cost a couple hundred bucks in fees, if I remember correctly). That would make this still an under $2,000 bike.

                  Grrrrrrrr.........

You're just a couple of weeks too late to ride it back. Winter has arrived and it's ****ing down rain.

Remember that the Canucks can only ride a third of the year so the bikes don't get a lot of miles.

Lol...the longest I have gone without riding one of my bikes in the last two years is two weeks. And only because I was on my honeymoon. You guys think it is so cold here but Canada has places where you can ride all year. Like bc. I put on over 20000kms (12000miles) a year. I have already done 13000kms on my 1100 since may. We might live in Canada but we ride. We are a hearty bunch!
