    voltage at coils? ???

    What voltage should I be getting at my coils while cranking?? I am getting 6 volts. With bike on I am getting 12.

    The O/W side should stay close to your +12V battery and the other side will go up and down as the coils fire.

      Your battery is being taxed by a lot of voltage drop. Could be you have a weak battery. Most likely the old wiring and connectors have built up resistance over the years. A bunch of us incorporate a relay to bypass the old wire to the coils. Some of the "purists" feel this is a band aide fix. Works for me .
