1979 GS750L Cam Chain Tentioner Push Rod Length

Trying to understand why two tensioners for the same bike could have different length push rods.

The one which came with the project bike is 3 1/2 inches long while the one which came with Ebay replacement jugs is 3 3/4 inches long. Both jugs are embossed with 748cc. (748cc & 748cm3)

the cut out parts (tooth pics) are also different 7/8 versus 1 1/8 inches long.

    any ideas would be appreciated!

Maybe one is 8 valve and one is for a 16 valve?

Maybe rear camchain guide was changed or maybe engine casting was beefed up in tensioner's mounting point.
