    Need some help with fork tube diameters

    I'm looking into doing the salty_monk brake upgrade. I've gotten the calipers and the rotors, and I'm on to the forks.

    I have an 81 GS750L with 35mm leading axle forks.

    I'd like to know what models/years had 35mm axle under forks?

    I've found some from an 82 GS750E, however, they have the anti dive on them so we're thinking they may be the 37mm forks. Can anyone say for sure if these are 35mm?

        Keep in mind that you can't (or shouldn't) simply change the forks, you need to change the triple trees, too.

        The offset between the steering stem and fork tubes is different. If you just change the tubes to put the axle under the tubes, you will be shortening the wheelbase and increasing the trail. The shorter wheelbase might let it turn just a bit quicker, but the larger trail will increase the effort necessary to get it to do that.

          Disstance,
          These are 35mm, but I believe the L models tubes are about 4 inches longer than the E model. You may have to use your existing upper tubes with the E's lower tubes to maintain the proper length.

            Might be doing the same type of swap, but replacing E's with L's, (complete) other forum members have stated that its a direct swap, though if your switching the L tube for the E tube are the lower legs internally different ?, noting that the E spring assemblies are different because of the upper/lower bushings and the L not having the same design. Would the over all lenth of the complete fork assemblies be the same, with out switching any parts.
