GS1000 running bad on idle and low throttle.

    Hi.
    GS1000 EN 1979.
Have 4 into 1, new pods on carbs and the carbs are restaurated.
put in some bigger mains dont remember the size.
    adjusted needle one slot up.

New intake boths and O-rings and i checked for leaks with starter gas, No leaks.

problem is that the bike runs rich smells lika a gasstation in exhaust, uneven idle and runs bad
    on low throttle with backfiring.

Ould the bad idle and backfiring be due to bigger mains?

    Many things could be wrong.
It would help if you told us how the bike ran before the modifications?
In general backfire comes from a leak in the exhaust system.
Did you synchronize the carbs after their restoration.
I remember when I worked on my first GS 1000 the mere fact of not having the filter in the airbox created problems on low throttle...
That was with the OEM Exhaut and airbox.

Thinking i found at last one of the problems, used startergas to check for vaccum leaks but i missed to spray the other end of the intake boot where there is a hose clamp, it is elaking vaccum, need to replace the hoseclamps since they are worn out.

I would do some plug chops for the throttle range where you're having issues. You're plugs will tell you how rich/lean each cylinder is. Check that your choke is shutting off completely. Are the plugs wet with gas when you pull them? Have you adjusted the idle screws with the 'highest idle' method?
