    Charging Too Much?

I have an 83 550L that was not charging. I installed a Ricks Motorsports stator and a R/R from a 1999 GSXR 750. With everything off the battery shows 12.6 volts, and at idle it shows around 14.7, and it does not seem to fluctuate much with the RPMS, it seems to stay at around 14.7. Is doing this dangerous or can ride it like this?

14.7V is at the top of the scale (14.25-14.5V average being about optimum). Most R/R are programed to something in this range although due to component tolerances it varies. If it stayed right there at 14.7V and no more it would be OK but a higher charge rate. The danger is it going to 15V or higher.

If you don't have an AGM battery then keep an eye on the fluid level to make sure you don't boil it dry.

Darn, with so many daily riders it's hard to decide which one to jump on next.
