    Very nice Trip Report as Redman stated. It's interesting to visit parts of our own state that captures a very different perspective.

    My wife, daughter and her husband drove up to The Creamery in Kennett Square inside​ of PA just outside the circular border of Delaware and notice how different northern Delaware is compared to the rest of the state.

      Great post and pictures Glen. One correction. This is the Portland PP&L Generating Station which was a coal fired plant but is now converted to run on low-sulfur diesel. Only Nuke plant is NJ is Forked River.

        Cool pix!! I am originally from NYC and as a kid spent a few summers in Asbury park. It was shang ri la for me back then.

        Admittedly .. there is some yucky parts of jersey but there is some good riding to be had there and you found it .. so long as you stay away from Newark or Elizabeth. Ewwwww

          Mario, I hope you had a good family day. I was told the old cliché about the kids growing fast a million times, and wouldn't you know I have a High School sophmore now.

          Rich, I hadn't heard the name, but yes, I've been by there many times. Lairds Applejack farm is my landmark over there, though I've never tasted the stuff. The affluence on display over there is something else. A family friend's son attends and plays football for Red Bank Catholic school. Our friend is pretty low key, but depending on which of the son's friends stops by there could be an Audi R8, a Land Rover, or a BMW parked across the street. Poor kids.....

          I'm pretty sure I was in Allie's neck of the woods. Its been awhile since she's been here.

          Interesting about the mis identified nuclear plant. Oyster Creek makes the news occasionally, especially since its one of the oldest in the country still operating and uses creek water for cooling, which gets the environmentalists all wound up.

          The blueberries and cranberries are in South Jersey.


          Im hoping to keep this thread going and add to it.... I just need to get out more when the sun is actually out. Anyone feel free to add pics.

            I was thinking about adding pics of the northern Delaware fringe and how different it is from the rest of the state. Heck, I'm not that far from you either.

            My ideal visit (if I ever get off my butt and make my "T" roadworthy) would be to trail my bike up to northern Jersey and hang out/ride with you. Don't hold me to it!!!

            It would be cool if we could meet Allie and get invited to her house for those awesome muffins. Again, just a thought.

                Cool looking roads. I love the narrow ones lined by trees with old houses, bridges ect. Nice ride.

                  Since you brought up Asbury Park.... the place- the waterfront anyway- sure has turned around in the last 10 or so years. When I was in my 20s (1990s), we would see shows at The Stone Pony, but it wasn't a town one would want to hang out in before or after a show. And The Pony, despite being a darling spot of Springsteen fans, was pretty dumpy, and its sound system sucked.

                    What an awesome pic! Brings back great memories. My family was living in a not safe housing project in Brooklyn. My mom would ship me off to my Aunt's home in Asbury park in the late 60's early 70's during summer school break so I wasnt hanging out with nothing to do in Brooklyn and finding myself in trouble. Asbury park then had blocks of amusement rides and tons of terrible stand food you could get and games and the beach was really sweet. I would get a summer beach pass and be on that beach everyday.

                    My aunts home was some 3 blocks from the boardwalk. It was awesome. I heard it went into a nose dive a few years later. I am glad it is coming back!!

                      There were bad riots in Asbury in the summer of 1970. Started on July 4th and went on for a week. Didn't directly impact the boardwalk area, but it started a long, slow decline that bottomed out in the 90's with that whole area being completely abandoned. It's starting to revive somewhat, but nothing like it used to be.

                        Yeah, the reputation the Stone Pony has is a pet peeve of mine. It was never a spot Springsteen played in the early days, it didn't exist until after he was putting out records and playing bigger venues. Back in the late '70s/early 80's the real hot spot for music in Asbury was a place called the Fast Lane, on 4th and Kingsley. Saw a bunch of great shows there. The Pony was very much minor league by comparison.

                          Aaah man, I forgot about the Fastlane. Been there a few times. We also saw a few shows at Asbury Lanes. I thought it was cool how they would set up a stage over the bowling lanes.
                          .....and The Saint. It seemed like a place that bands played on their way up..... or down.

                            This NJ landmark closed earlier this year. Back in the day, many a ride on my old 1100e included a stop here. Sad to see it go.

                                Great pics, man - you seem to have made a good run of the state. I really enjoyed that Delaware River area when I was a bit more down south. 518 through Rocky Hill/Hopewell/Amwell has some great spots, too.

                                Is that first pic Prallsville Mills? I got married there, ha. I've def hit Hot Dog Johnny's on the way up to the Poconos - can't pass up a chance to say Buttzville.

                                I think we need to get an NJ ride going. I made the Asbury Park trip over the weekend and I think went through your area, more or less. I forgot how pleasant rt. 33/35 is compared to Rt. 1. Putting that Sandy Hook loop on my list, too.
