Per earlier posts.. it’s hard to believe that it’s three years since this thread started, yet it’s not. This thread, and a few instigators are responsible for my getting back into photography, and I thank those responsible for the push and encouragement.

So how do I pull a frame out of a movie? I have windows 8 and no editing programs.

Low tech method: Camera pointed at screen . hee hee (shutter speed not faster than, say, 1/60 or 1/30, if you have a choice)
Probably not too good of results.

Do you have VLC media player? If not, it is free, (and a pretty good player, also)
Open your video in VLC, pause at the frame you want.
In the menu at the top, click "Video"
In the drop down, at the bottom click "Take Snapshot"
It will save a .jpg in your local disc/users/(you)/pictures folder.

They're remodeling or flat out rebuilding all the Lotaburger locations here. Went to the one on Juan Tabo and Indian School today for lunch. It's a totally new building and the burgers were better than ever.

One of the good things about moving to the DC area is that I should be able to make the family's Friday afternoon lunch there once a month or so.
