Ugh-exactly. So many people dumped that bit of the bike after finding it wasn't suited for what they needed.

"81" models were DFI (digital fuel injection ). "82" models changed to EFI (electronic fuel injection ). Both seemed to work OK, but didn't do too good for performance. Several folks, around here, changed to CV 34's or 33mm smooth bores & improved the performance, but in stock form none of them would keep up with a GS1100E in a 1/4 mi.

I agree with everyone's comments. I am not interested in buying just sharing GPz angst. Looks like this 81 GPz1100 is relisted again. Probably the local pick up thing and selling during X-mas. Here is a puzzling thought/comment. The differences between a GPz1100 and KZ1000ELR are not all that large, yet an ELR in the same condition would likely fetch maybe 10x more.

              Yep, kind'f like a GS1000E & a GS1000S. Actually,The KZ1000ELR may have been more kin to a KZ1000J. Just my opinion.

I've got a set of BS36 Mikunis off of a GS1150. They'd slap right onto that bad boy without too much fuss.

Only 4 1/2 hours away. Hmmm.....

I just looked at the parts book on '83 Specter to look at the valve adjustment. It is shim over bucket on that one. Is the entire family shim over bucket? I have always thought valve adjustment was a cam removal job on those. Is it easy like a Suzuki?

The early KZ engines used shims on top of buckets, I thought, in around 1980 or 1981 they changed to under the bucket. I'm Surprised the Kaw. Spectras were on top of bucket. Not facts, just from my old memory.

My nephew is looking at KZ1000Ps from the late 90s to early 2000s. Can't find a parts Fitch for those at the usual suspects. I don't want to remove cams for that job.

I'm looking at the factory service manuals right now. The '81-'83 Kz1000s and KZ1100s are all shim over bucket, both chain and shaft drive models.

Kawasaki shims are 0.5mm smaller in diameter than Suzuki shims though.

All the big 2 valve KZ engines are shim over. It was the smaller bikes that used shim under. And Partzilla has all the fishe.
