Suzuki's in the family (Part 2)

Well, almost exactly one year after writing about the three shaft-driven GS's owned from new by myself and my two older brothers in the thread below, I can finally show you Part 2!

    https://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/showthread.php?250880-Suzuki-s-in-the-family&highlight=

After reviving the 650 Katana from its 25 year slumber (my son has now bought it, so it will remain in the family), the 1000G which I bought from my oldest brother was next, after a similar time off the road. This project was completed in a few months, and then my goal of getting the 3 brothers together with their motorcycles became a reality when my oldest brother did a trip of about 2500 km on a tour of South Africa that brought him to Cape Town two weeks ago.

The photos show each of us with his motorcycle, as well as a "family photo" (credit to member Steve for the idea taken from his family photo). Our combined age is 211 years, with the combined age of the motorcycles at 113 years (the 650 and 1000 are 1980 models, while the 850 is a 1981 model).

Unfortunately the "extended" fuel tank on the 1000G developed cracks in the bondo along the top edges, so I refitted the original standard tank which my oldest brother had stored safely. The motor pulls quite a bit stronger compared to my 850, but I am not sure if this is just due to the bigger capacity, or to the fact that my brother fitted both camshafts from the 1000S model.

My son and I are looking forward to many more enjoyable miles with these motorcycles!

You remind me of Jay Leno in that pic.

What a great looking bunch of bikes and riders.

Fun fact, I spun the globe right next to me and New Mexico is almost exactly the same distance from the equator as South Africa just in opposite directions. Maybe that explains the similarities in landscape there. One thing you have that we don't, of course, is an ocean in your back yard, lol.

Thanks Roger! Unfortunately my humble garage will have a LOT of catching up to do compared to Jay's!

I always enjoy seeing photos taken on your rides and those of other members, showing the areas they live in.

Thanks Dave, yes that was a very special moment for me! My brothers are 9 and 13 years older than I am (now 64) and have hung up their helmets and boots, so sadly we were unable to go for a ride together.

My son has bought the baby Katana and I have bought the 1000G, so we will hopefully still be able to enjoy some good memories!
