Lucky. I stepped out of the garage, and saw them. My camera was nearby on the work bench, with the 100-300 already on it.

What the photo is lacking, is when the ship entered the piers, it again sounded its horn fhoooooooowt fhoooooowt fhoooooowt fhowt fhowt.
I called my wife, 5 miles away, yep, she heard it.

Dave, that is by far the favorite picture from the set you posted on FB. The converging lines are great and the sheer size of the ship is conveyed even better by it being not fully in the frame.

                    Nothing special, just the GX85, 60mm Macro, f/4.5, ISO800 (1st) 640 (2nd), handheld, and a fairly heavy crop.
Had three or four decent shots out of about 27.

Great closeup Bob. Love the sharpness and detail that lens brings. Ask myself. "You don't really need another lens do you?" Answer "But, but, but." By the way Dave, what camera did you end up with?

Great photos, Dave. What a sight to see.

You didn't mention a tug getting the ship to that spot and then have it drop ancor? Wow, that is one talented crew.

I can't remember ever seeing a ship that big in person.

Between the mist from the water and low clouds, the light this morning was quite sublime and ever changing.

No tug. Self propelled. Has bow thruster that can push front sideways.
Picture is coming thru piers, it went further upstream to some docks. Ties up at docks.
