    Where I've been Riding

      I had my 18 year old daughter drive me down to Carillon Park in Dayton - home of a lot of historical artifacts and a great train display. I originally wanted to try to find the Bald Eagles that nest there but with the park closed right now and not knowing where to look from the road, I grabbed some other pictures instead.

      One of the more recognizable landmarks in Dayton is the tower that houses 50 bells which toll every 15 minutes

      After I took a picture of her next to the sign describing the tower, I noticed she was staring at this door with the last three stanzas from Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's Christmas Bells poem

      Longfellow Poem by Scott Baker, on Flickr
      It was as if an earthquake rent
      The hearth-stones of a continent,
      And made forlorn
      The households born
      Of peace on earth, good-will to men!

      And in despair I bowed my head;
      "There is no peace on earth," I said;
      "For hate is strong,
      And mocks the song
      Of peace on earth, good-will to men!"

      Then pealed the bells more loud and deep:
      "God is not dead, nor doth He sleep;
      The Wrong shall fail,
      The Right prevail,
      With peace on earth, good-will to men."

      I think the poem is still fitting today in some respects.

                From yesterday's rainy, cloudy outing. Balsam root in full bloom and just past their prime and the low hanging valley clouds were good for decluttering the background.

                      LOL. One day when the weather smartens up I'll have to spend less time taking photos and more time riding my motorcycle. Yeah, it's all good as long as you're doing something you have a passion for.
