You are a modest man Dorkburger. That's an awesome arresting image. Abstract realism?

I guess that would be up to the viewer. Its the remnant of a small dock reflected on the water. I love how the fog blanked out any background and makes it look like its floating.

Yes, of course you are right. I looked at it again and noted how painterly the reflection in the water is. Then the wiggly lower sides of the posts confused me until it occurred that the waterline is actually half way up. One of the best images posted here, ever, imho. Congrats.

Another from this morning. Its cropped quite a bit and I had to tweak the contrast due to the heavy fog. It wasn't intended to be a picture of the fisherman, but the trees that I cropped out. When I zoomed in on the image after transferring it to my phone, I really liked the fisherman's silhouette.

well my roses are at it again, the first of over 30 buds. Probably the tallest sunflower I have ever seen, over 12 feet high.

Lake is rough today because had been windy most of the night and this morning. Went to beach-pier to see the waves at the pier, took camera (for first time in months). Not so windy when I was there late afternoon but lake still rolling, and unusually warm (mid-low 70s degF) for this late in September.

Lot of people down there, so I included them in some shots, hey, they are part of the scenery. (I was intending for the people to be more silhouette.)

I thought I had developed a way to not be so obvious about taking pic of certain people. Kinda aim off in one direction, then scan across, stopp and click off a few shots, then scan across some more. Then walk over to somewhere else.

Took a few of this guy with metal detector. Then moved to somewhere else. A little bit later there is someone standing next to me and he is holding a metal detector. He asked if there was anyway I could get him some of the picture of him. I said, well, let me show you first, then see if you are still interested. So I scrolled thru the 4 or 5 shots of him. Man, the guy was so excited, exclaimed about having the waves and the pier in the background.

Was good to get out for a ride, and a little photo expedition with the camera (micro FourThirds camera with adapted 70mm from my SLR days). Pics may have been more interesting if closer to sunset with more color, but was a thick overcast so I suspect wasnt going to be much of a sunset.

Album with a few other shots

Colder and rainy next week, so will not be the people there.

I've been enjoying the photos you guys post. Thank you for sharing them.

My wife is crazy about sunflowers. I stopped the other day after work and pulled several from the road side, roots and all, and tried to rehome them in our garden. Eight hours later they were toast. Literally, it's much warmer in Albuquerque than Edgewood where I pulled them, 30 miles East of town.

I think the green thumb skips a generation. My dad can grow darn near anything. Always asking me if I want peppers or tomatos or chiles or rhubarb.

Gustovh, is that stone arrangement under the sunflower marking a resting place for a family pet?

Dave the overall color in your shots makes it look... cold.

I assumed that had to do with the heavy overcast. But maybe something going on I am not aware of.......
