    .340 or .348 for 1166

I'm gathering parts for my Katana build. Wiseco 1166 kit. Which cams for street riding (maybe a couple of drag runs). WEB .340 or .348? Or somethng else?
I have 36mm 1150 carbs and a set of the GSXR750 slingshot carbs if that changes cam choice. Hopefully, headsbikesmopars will port the head for me.
    thanks,
    Lewis

The .340 lift cams are a drop in and don’t require any modifications. Since you are removing the head for porting, you should be using performance valve springs and would be better off with the added performance of the .348 lift cams. Dar

If you want even more fun, I had Web digitize the last new set of Cam Motion, G4s I had left and they make a NOTICABLE power difference over the .348s. My first choice for a street engine is almost always the G4s.

what's the part number for the G4s? I didn't see them in the WEB catalog. Whose springs and retainers should I use?
          thanks for all the help.

I would use the .370/.348 cams. I don’t like using the same lift cam on the exhaust as I do on the intake.
Then degree them in at 106I/108E.

Ray, do these work with stock guides? Optimum for a 1260 with +1 intakes and some port work for street\strip? Winter work on bike season is coming

I have the G3, in my 1166. It's a great street only cam. Header and pods, all else stock. It pulls well starting at 4k, will lug to 3k in 5th and then climb a mountain , then comes on hard pull bout 5k. I don't have the specs, bought them used , 20 year ago, from a racer that went larger.
ps- from a roll on in first, it breaks the tire loose sometimes.

I'm not having any luck finding the elusive g4's (or G3's). Also, I hope Ray is ok, as I've not heard back from him (PM). Any ideas/information on either?
                    thanks,
                    Lewy

who originally made the G4 and G3 cams?
who makes good springs for hotter cams?

Cam Motion was the manufacturer. They still make cams, but not for motorcycles. APE springs are the most common choice, they have 2 versions depending on cam lift.
