Thanks Larry. I hit the Malibu canyons on Sunday, took the Skunk though. I haven't got enough miles on this one to totally trust it yet & it seems like a bad time to be breaking down far away from home...

I have gaiters on both of mine.... I didn't like them at first but they grew on me! Also both bikes have the cleanest fork legs on them. Ones a forking by frank replacement (skunk) and I believe these are a NOS OE replacement. I figured they deserved to stay in good shape!

My solution to a sticking tach needle is to knock on the gauge before I put my gloves on. LOL

Of course mine sticks when I start it up. One of these days I'll open it up and lube it or something. or just ditch the analog mechanism altogether and convert to a digital gauge.

Great job on the project BTW.

Mine turned out to be an issue with the metal shield from the lights falling off on one side internally & jamming up the needle. Eventually it caused a short. Once I opened them up & glued that in place the gauge was working fine.

It was a PITA to find!

              Thanks PJ!

Great job mate, I am doing a 83 GS1100GK so I am interested in any info you can give me on the front brake upgrade you did as the GK is a battleship to stop.
                  Cheers Carl.

Hi Salty, Bunyip here again, just to confirm with you, you recommend the Ninja EX650 calipers, GS550 front brake rotors and a set of your brackets and I should be good to go or stop better in this case. Do I need certain year models as I am not sure if the bikes here in Oz would be the same named/model as the U.S.A.

                            Cheers for your help.

You either need the late 80’s Ninja, the Kawasaki concourse or for the newer caliper you can use Vstrom 650 or EX650. There are a lot of choices.

if you send me pics Or links I can tell you if they’ll work.

I would definitely recommend Honda CBR F3 or F4 or VFR rotors over GS550 but they will work. Again if you send me pics/links I can tell you if they’re the right ones.
