Well, we're keeping the plan super loose to start but bookmark this thread, @jimhickcox and we'll just see what happens.

@GBW was down here last week and we found what look to be good "hard riding" routes. Easier riding is a breeze to map and most coordinate well with Dripping Springs as a base camp.

I couldn't make the one the guys on the CB-F site just had in the hill country, so I'd like to try to make this one. I need to make my vacation plans for next year soon, so the sooner you can come up with a date, the better for me.

Please keep in mind that I'm not an "organizer", per say but am conveying what small group discussions are worthy of mention.

    That blathered,

I think we're eyeing the first or second week of March. I myself have to head back to IL/WI before April 1 (getting new RiderCoach certifications + track stuff).

The BASE for this rally would be Dripping Springs, TX. We're still spitballing hotels. There's also the option to camp (maaaaaybe, don't quote) at Ranch Road Fabrication(.com) where there's parking, yada, etc.

... but he'd need some fundage for this I think. I'll talk to Godin about it today.

I have two specific routes in mind. One is that of the Twisted Sisters (Friday, day 1, to avoid the herd of two wheeled turtles) and another that outsiders might not consider for Saturday.

    Day 1:https://ridewithgps.com/routes/28893708

Day 2: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/31266877 <- Ignore the short length. This is actually 50% of a figure-8 route.

Not really related to this upcoming rally, but tonight (friday, 12/20) while standing in line to pay my bill at the local Cracker Barrel, there stood before me a young lady with a sweatshirt on that had "Dripping Springs" embroidered on the back. So naturally I had to start a conversation with her. Turns out she was visiting friends in the Omaha area.

As the comic Stephen Wright once said, "it's a small world, but I wouldn't want to paint it".

    Not really but I wish.

    Here's what's what ...

Buddy down here was like "We should have a rally but you should post about it because I like the GSR guys but I don't want to join."

And I was all like "Yeah! I LOVE DORITOS, man! You ever try the spicey version?!"

And he was all like "You're in charge of a rally"

And I was all like "I hate your face".

... and then we drank whiskey.

    AAANNNYYYHOW ... Here's what I propose.

If you guys want to do this, we should find decent lodging here in Dripping Springs. I have two routes that I can anti-up in digital fashion. That's it. That's the gig.

Any other organization will have to fall on someone else's shoulders and I'm more than listening for volunteers.

I think it'd be fun. I hope I'm not coaching an MSF course should this happen. If I am, I wish you good folks a solid good time.

What I will do is hunt around for a decent place to stay in the area. You all should do the same.

But then I guess, first ... WHAT DATES do you all like?

If you want the REAL low-down, I've got Godin's email. I'm sure he'd love to field as many questions as possible. He's a real people person, that guy. Loves phone calls. Long walks on the beach. Discussions of anything beard grooming or fashion related.

    Say the word ;-)

It would appear that if we do stick to Dripping Springs (should DEFINITELY stick to what's near hill country), this is our best contender: https://outpostmoteltx.com/

As an ex event coordinator for a small car club, I know that getting a gtg can be like herding cats. 1st everyone is on board and sets a date, then some folks start asking if you can change the dates for whatever reasons, so you change the dates then some others can't make it. Then when the time comes about 25% of the people show up. Lol
I suggest you leave the dates alone. Make up some itinerary of where everyone should meet up for the ride or food and let every show up there.
    Just my .02...
I think it sounds like fun.
