    pilot screw cover

when I tore my carbs apart the person before me had put silicone on top of the pilot screws, I assume to keep them in place. the 2 rebuild pdfs I have seen on the sight don't mention doing anything after the plug has been removed.
what keeps the pilot screw from moving? should I put silicone on top of them when I am done?

    thanks

I believe the cover is on for EPA emissions. To keep them tamper proof. When covers were removed for adjustment, some people believed they needed to sealed back up. No they do not need silicone. Adjust as necessary and leave 'em

They have a spring on them.... that works like a spring washer and stops them moving. The cover was so they could tell the EPA the jetting was not adjustable from the factory.
