I remember seeing this thread and thought I'd go ahead and tell of my recent experience that is somewhat relevant to this thread.

Last Saturday I was invited to go out and have dinner with a few friends, I really didn't feel like it worked a 9 hour day ,felt drained and had a headache. But it was Saturday and I hadn't ate much during the day just lots of water.

While eating I have some food that doesn't go down just right and I take a drink and force it down, It was unusual, but I kept on eating like a hog and it happened again.

Cept this time I couldn't force it down and calmly went to restroom and more or less coughed it up and out and was fine..I thought.

On way home I go to a walmart to grab a few things and I notice a little something in the ole pipe and walked to restroom and cough up A chunk of onion? Then I felt just great and went home and went to bed.

Next mourning, Sunday, I get up fire up the coffee machine head out to the garage and start getting ready to wash truck and bike, after getting everything ready to stat I go and get a cup of coffee and take a sip, Thats when I first discovered something wasn't just right.

The coffee wouldn't go down and I spit it more or less out, I felt fine , didn't feel like anything was in my throat or in esophagus.

I think I've strained it or something and it will get better, but no I can't eat or even take a teaspoon of water its 100% blocked, I was only able to sip enough water to wet my mouth, sunday night I grab some bottled water and drank it trying to force it down and think I almost had it but it was getting painful.

I go to work monday still wanting to believe its gonna fix itself , but it hot and I'm working outside and I can't drink! not good, I call the doc.

Docs not in so I go to express care, they want me to drink some stuff while they watch some kind of xray vision or MRI machine, I tell them AGAIN that ain't gonna happen cause I can't eat or drink anything.

So they set me up with a scope the next day, which is a tuesday at one P.M. by then I'm not doing to good and somewhat concerned.

They knock me out And I wake up to them talking about getting some jammed up food out of my lower esophagus and they were not sure if it was dog or cat! they were joking, they were full of jokes, they pumped me up with fluids through a I.V and had me take a few drinks before I left.

They didn't see any signs of damage or any problems, just stuck food? Why? who knows but I do have an appointment with a specialist just to be sure.

    Kinda scary ordeal.

I don't think I've ever been so relieved in my life as I was when I could finally take a drink after three days .

The whole event makes me want to be a better person and friend to all.

I appreciate you telling about your experience trent.I've always eaten kind of slow as my Father would instruct us as children to do so,even getting raised as a vegetarian I'm looking for more teeth now so I can enjoy eating lots of different types of food which I've never tried yet. Ah,someday it's going to be good.
