    Back into the GS world

I haven't had an operational GS for a while but picked up am 80' GS750 over the weekend. One owner bike, last registered in 89' but said he got it going in around 2000-2001 for a while and rode it around the neighborhood some.

A friend was looking for information from me on this model and my 16 valve knowledge is limited but long story short he had to do a pass so I picked it up. Somewhere I also have a 650E model too but haven't touched it for a while. Think I'll concentrate on this 750 for the winter.

When consulting the magic 8 ball for advice, one must first ask it "will your answers be accurate?"

On posting pics to this site: Most use another site to host the pics. Imgur is popular. I have written instructions. Linked in my signature. Flickr works similarly. It's not as straightforward as one would think. You need to copy the BBCode of the image and paste that into your post. You can paste up to 10 images in one post doing it this way.

You'll be impressed when you see how the 16 valves are adjusted, for me way better than the shims. The little tool to hold the adjuster while tightening the lock nut is not totally necessary, but sure makes it wayyy easier. Welcome back, & yes pictures are almost mandatory.

Looking forward to digging into it. I thought they had the pictures on this site finally fixed, guess I was wrong.

I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.

Hey Jeff. Welcome back. Nothing like having a bike project in the garage for the long, cold winter.
