Default Anyone else use ImageShack for photos? Price increase?

Just got a notice that it was time to renew my ImageShack account....So, OK....
Last year I paid $18.99 for an annual, "Premium" account.

This year, the "Basic" account is $3.99 a month, or $37.99 a year.

The "Premium" account now costs $99.99 a month, or $953.99 a year

I do have my Flickr account for my good stuff.
But ImageShack is were I put my everyday, forum stuff.
Anyway....Any photos that may be linked to ImageShack, will be disappearing soon....

    So tired of this nonsense....

I have a domain, maybe I should just host my own stuff....But how?

Had this same sh*t with Photobucket holding all my pics to ransom for an extortionate fee.
Found an app on Google chrome which allowed me to recover them all to my PC.
I just keep them all in my PCs picture folders now and haven't had any problems linking them to any forum.
Worth backing them up to an external HD though just in case the PC dies.

    Thanks Zed. Got that covered.
All my photos are on my PC, backed up on a second drive, and again to the cloud.

I had photobucket too.....so I found this, and now here I am again.

I don't know anything about Imageshack as I use Flickr after Photobucket decided to stick it to us up the yin yang..... However I did discover something when I had a computer crash.... I lost all my pictures on Flickr because I couldn't find my site so I opened a new account ..... This happened three times until I finally wrote something down on paper so I could find the account ..... I have since found all three " free " Flickr accounts so have triple the upload space I had before.... I suspect that Flickr allows multiple family members opening accounts from the same IP address.....

My advice would be to bite the bullet and move to your own website. You can find hosting rates starting at less than the "basic" rate above and be in control of your own jpg destiny from here on. If you already have a site for another purpose that is even better.

The software to build a gallery site is cheap or may be available free from your web host. If all you are going to do is link the pics to other sites you really don't need much more than an ftp program.

Otherwise whatever photo arrangements you have will always be temporary and you will repeatedly have to to make the kind of decisions you face now.

    All true....Thanks...

I still have an account with Go Daddy, (I did have a website at one time), and a couple of domain names. Guess I'll start there...

Well, never mind...at least for now. Apparently I am grandfathered in at the old rate....

I will however, continue to look for a more stable system...
