    '82 shocks compatability

Hi I just bought an '82 GS850G project this week and know of some nice OEM rear shocks and fork coils from an '82 GS750T. I can see the shocks aren't identical (e.g. more chrome on the 750T shocks) but these parts would all fit my 850G wouldn't they? Thanks in advance

Check the bottom mount. The 850 shocks have eyes at both ends, some 750s are eye/fork.

thanks so these look like eye/fork and won't fit my 850, correct? (I haven't picked up the 850 quite yet)

Nope, the clevis is on the swingarm on the 850Gs so you'd have two clevises.

I use these Partzilla diagrams all the time to identify assembly correct bolt pitch and length, etc. Are the 850's shocks shot?

I don't know, I'm picking up the 850 day after tomorrow; it's shocks don't look rusty, have 50K miles on them. 850 had a big old windjammer on it so I don't suppose my (front) fork coils are tired...guess I don't need these spares, just noticed them locally for sale
