    83 750E and Dynatek ignition

    Hello folks
So, I contacted Dynatek about an electronic ignition to replace the points. They told me that they don't make a kit for the 82-83 GS750E because Suzuki used different mounting points ? I've seen kits that claim they fit. And I didn't ask him about the 84-85 which are the same. Any opinion ?

83 would have had electronic ignition from Suzuki, not points.

Your bike uses an ignition system where the advance curve is built into the ignitor. You would need the expensive Dyna 2000 or retrofit a mechanical advance unit off an early GS (which I'm not sure is possible.) There have been some threads on this subject previously so you might want to dig through the archives for more info.

I never found anyone who had retrofitted on the 83 when I had one. There is also a European option to the Dyna 2000, I might have a look at that if I was you. Think they’re Czech. I can’t find the link here on my IPad but a search should find it.

Thanks guys. Obviously you can tell that I haven't cracked open anything on the engine yet. Still rehabbing the knee.
I do know the engine ran when I got it. Seller had to jump the start relay because the start switch was no good.
At this point the only things I've done is strip the calipers and brake lines and remove the gauge cluster and all
the bodywork. Ill have more stupid questions when I get it on the lift in the spring.
