It would also be nice to know if Chris Kelley is an active member, what’s his/her moniker.

That is a question I have had for quite a while. I have contacted Frank (the administrator) about it, but have gotten no response.

Hey Guys! Sorry - I think I submitted the photo twice and managed to drop the background story.

This is my bike, I've had it for exactly a year now. I bought it for $1000 with 9000 miles on the odometer, and have put about 5500 miles on it since July when I got my license. Unsurprisingly, it has needed work, such as the Rectifier replacement/upgrade, fork seals, engine reseal, and so on. But it has been wonderfully reliable and great to work on!

Thanks for all the help you have given me as I've encountered issues, this forum is truly a lifesaver for me - I've worked on my cars and done major jobs for a decade, but the motorcycle world is a bit different, and this is the oldest vehicle I've ever worked on so I've had a lot of learning to do.

          Next upgrades:
          - the seat is dying and either needs to be replaced or refreshed.
          - I'd like to build a better luggage situation for the pillion seat or behind.
          - I'd like to swap the cruiser bars out for dirt bike/more upright bars for commuting.
          - Probably need to clean/reseal/etc the carb in the next year (and then take the time to adjust the valves then too).

          - Chris Kelley

See there folks. I knew this motorcycle had a story. It looks like you have it sorted out pretty good. Yeah, a lot of the "L" guys replace the handlebars with something more level. I'll up it to three thumbs up!👍👍👍

That is a beautiful bike. I love that it has been kept stock. I did modify the king/queen seat on my 80 550 and changed the bars. Still mostly stock but a little more contemporary looking. 681259E7-D886-489C-BC3F-4636DEECE961.jpg

Great looking bike & seems you've done a great job. Carbs usually need attention from not being ridden, you seem to be riding enough yours shouldn't need anything. A shot of SeaFoam a couple of times pr yr. gives me a little security of less carb problems. The valves are opposite, the more you ride the more attention they need. Very expensive if they are too tight. May be worth checking sooner than too late. Welcome, good job, & good luck.
