    Carb fit question

Hey all I just purchased my first GS. The bike is a 1981 gs 450L, and it was in pretty good shape, only 8k miles, good compression. The bike came without carbs, and I have been found same for the same generation of GS450, from a 1980 GS450E, and I am wondering if it will fit. The product numbers are different. It is a good deal, so if there is anyway I can make it work?
    Thanks a ton!

Yes, they can be made to work.

Before you get too far ahead of yourself please be sure the read the Newbie Mistakes thread linked in my signature. And any carbs you get should be fully rebuilt before attempting to put them into service.

    Good luck

There's differences in the part numbers mainly due to how the carbs are jetted, the impression that I have is those differences are due to tire and sprocket sizes in order to comply with emissions standards. If you get a set from a 450 close to the same model year my guess is it'll run OK with them on there.
