Fall River looks like a cool place to visit, and the house-despite its past-looks charming. Only places in Mass outside of Boston (and Cambridge) that I've visited have been Plymouth and Salem.

Little known fact: Despite the enduring infamy and childhood rhymes, when Lizzie Borden was tried in court for murder, the jury found her not guilty.

Fall River is a dump of a town.

That's a shame to hear. Much as I liked many of the areas I visited a couple of years ago in New Jersey, Matawan was like that.

I never went through Fall River itself but remember it when i rode through there from CT. I.95 to I.195 it's where those two Interstates transition from one to the other back in the 70's and 80's;I remember the retired battleship parked right near the bridge:is it still there? My family lived in Stamford,CT.,I used to live in Milford and New Haven,CT. also while my family was moving to and lived in Cape Cod,MA.
I would ride my motorcycle back and forth through those Interstates a lot.

Fall River is a city and certainly has it's issues. However, there are some nice areas and some nice restauraunts.

A hop, skip and a jump to Aquidneck island, 20 minutes to Providence and not a bad spot to head down the cape from. Real Estate prices are on the rise there and it is a decent spot for investing.

I consider it to be a City on the move!

Speaking of retired ships, every time I visit Philly, I go look at (well, from a short distance-Ikea is a good spot) the slowly decaying hulk of the fastest ocean liner ever, the SS United States. It is just a gorgeous piece of naval history, and though it seems to be moored in the right city, it would be glorious if Pennsylvania would do for it what California did for the Queen Mary.

We shall see if this ever actually happens:
