Default Recommend vendor for used iPhone . . ?

Not interested in one of those plans where are making payments on a new phone and then as soon as is paid for, then get another new one to pay for. So want to just purchase a used/refurbished one and get own service. Maybe an 8.

THe iPhone 5 I have had for a few years is starting to falter (have recently backed it up on icloud).

I suspect Mr Dale RustyBronco has some recommendations.

Had 850G for 14 years. Now have GK since 2005.

I got an iPhone SE at Costco, no plan. It is their 'budget' version. Read some reviews, it is excellent. It was $180 all up after two rebates, which took a while. One was $180 and another $100. It was a smokin' deal IMO. It is by far the best phone for the cash I've seen.

We use android phones, but the last couple we bought new, on Amazon.
Just decent Motorola phones for under $200, if I remember.

You can check Amazon for deals. They have many "market" sellers.

Read the buyer comments/seller recommendations before buying

    EDIT

An area for concern in many newer phones is the battery. They are often not user-replaceable and all batteries decline in capacity over time, so you have to be sure you are getting some life in whatever you buy

With the reconditioned phones sold by Amazon you get a minimum of 80% of the original battery capacity, and they are pretty good are refurbishing the equipment, plus you get a warranty.

slickdeals.net is the place to shake out really good prices for things like phones and TV's. Realize though, some of the best phone deals include some sort of service plan. The sharks on slickdeals sign up for the cheapest plan they can get and then terminate it early so they can walk away with the phone. Each deal is different. Go to the Hot Deals forum and then click on the "phones" filter. I got my last three phones after latching on to a deal posted there.

Try Swappa. If you've never heard of it, it's sort of an ebay just for smartphones. https://swappa.com/buy/iphones

Cell plan guru Stetson Doggett has a number of videos on Swappa, worth watching. This one's more from the seller's viewpoint, which might be the better video to watch:

    Thanks Guys. Good info.

Time pressure got to me, and ordered an iPhone 8 from an Amazon Renew place (listed sales of something like 8000) the other day.

    Should have it Monday.

I guess I'm too late in my offer but I was going to give you mine----- that is just as soon as they send it to me.

I must have one in transit because I got a call about a week ago telling me one is being charged on my credit card. Supposed to be sent from Albuquerque charged at $900. Geez, they never did send the last one I was promised about 6 months ago.
