    Kill switch not working

Hi all, I've been having trouble with my kill switch on the 82 gs850gl. I see it prevents the bike from starting if it's in the OFF position but wont shut the bike off if I go from RUN to OFF. any suggestions?

Clean the switches. Be careful when taking the control group apart. there are springs in there that like to go flying.

        The kill
swich is suppose to kill power to two things 1- the starter button and 2- the ignition .
Must be that someone wired some other power to the ignition. (The org/wht circuit.)

Had 850G for 14 years. Now have GK since 2005.

I would guess the ignition is powered through another circuit too.... Maybe someone did a relay mod & pulled the switched live from somewhere other than the Orange white wire. Look at your coils & trace the wires back. You should have an O/W on each one.

Thanks all. a faulty switch was to blame!

Any time I have a kill switch issue (or potential one) the first thing I do, without any disassembly is simply spray down the switch with contact cleaner. Directly onto the switch. I have probably had success with this on many dozens of bikes, but especially Honda’s.

Did you find an old replacement? repair? or replace?
My 82 GS450 switch is bad and I need to fix or replace it so curious what you found, though different bikes.
