    ultrasonic solution recommendations?

    I want to put my caliper bodies through the ultrasonic, any recommendations for solution? kind of cleaning agent and ratio?

    I used 50/50 pine sol / water for my carbs and that worked well, but these deposits on the calipers are stubborn.

    Ultrasound may not remove those deposits.
    Try a green Scotch brite

      Is that ok on the piston bore? the King tutorial on the gsresources home page says nothing harder than nylon bristles on that, but I didn't make much progress on the deposits with a toothbrush...

        You might be surprised what a few days’ soak in full strength simple green or white vinegar will do. There are also nylon bristle brushes you can chuck in a drill or Dremel, sure beats a toothbrush.

          Simple Green Pro, which is aluminum safe, is what I use. Dilute significantly; 8/9/10:1? Regular Simple Green is corrosive to aluminum so it's not ideal. Regarding abrasives, they are fine, just don't go too hard in the seal groove. The caliper bore is a non contact surface with the piston so it doesn't matter how much it's scarred up or what have you. The seal groove needs to be fairly decent though.

            I use this stuff diluted 10:1 with distilled water, it's safe on carbs and brake calipers and doesn't turn them black like a lot of products.

              I'd like to highlight that it's important to use demineralized/distilled water, otherwise you'll most likely get chalk/lime deposits (same effect when you heat up water). You might get away with tap water if your water supply is on the soft side, or your solution can compensate it, but don't count on it – and distilled water usually can be had very cheaply, as noted.

              For my mostly varnished but un-corroded carbs distilled water with generous amounts of liquid dish soap, a bit of a citrus-based solvent and ample time (60mins+) worked well.
