    I'm SHOCKED !!!

    Ok gang.
Working on my 83 GS750E. Apparently I got the wrong Ducati shock. This one is12". Just for fun I did a little grinding and got it to
fit. Now I have a chopper.
Question. Does anyone have the proper 93-99 Monster rear shock or GS1150 shock they'd like to unload ? I'm trying to delay
the need to spend Big Bux on an aftermarket unit.

    Thanks in advance!

Yeah I already sent him a message asking about length. No answer. It looks exactly like the one I have except mine doesn't have the little red
thing. Anyhoo, I found a decent low mileage stock unit for cheap. But I think I'll keep my eyes open for a 900 Ducati shock.

Just a heads up. I put an M900 shock on my 1150. I read that it was a direct bolt on.... it almost was, but I did have to mount it upside down to gain the proper suspension movement and to prevent binding. Mounting it correctly would also have had the schrader fitting hitting a suspension link at near full compression. Also per RapidRay, I used the original 1150 spring. He said the Ducati spring is way too stiff.

There some info on my shock and other tribulations in this thread. The shock part is fairly recent.

Do you have a great road adventure that you would like to share? How about a bike repair gone bad? Put your story here and share it with the rest of us.

I managed to get this shock in upside down. Had to grind the washers a bit as well as the end that went on top.
It fits good but, like I said, its too short.

On my 83 - 750ES it fit fine the right way up. I had to massage a casting line on the top eye, use the stock spring & add some washers to the bushing, that was it. That red thing is a plastic cap over the Nitrogen port.

So I got my FleaBay stock replacement shock. Looked to be in great shape. Its installed and I have my ride height back. I may
swap out the cable for the damping from my old shock but that's about it. So I have a Ducati rear shock already
modified to fit a 83-85 GS750E/ES but its an inch short. (12" instead of13") FREE you just pay shipping. For those of you who
              always wanted a chopper.

UPDATE. So I was looking at the damping cable. I didn't like the way it was routed. Seemed too close to be chain.
After scratching my head and grunting a few times, I decided to drive down to storage and take a peek at the other 83.
Well GADZOOKS ! On mine the damper cable comes out the back of the shock eye mount. On the one in storage, it
comes out the FRONT. I guess the eye got rotated. So, I'm going to unbolt the lower eye and rotate it. No problems, right ?
If anyone knows why I shouldn't do that, please let me know.
