    650 kickstart doable?

was wondering if i could make my bike a kickstart aswell, i know the 650s never had them but early 550, 750, and 850 models had them (maybe more). is there a possibility of swapping the cases out to make it work or is there a whole extra assembly im missing for it to be done.

people use the 650 top end on a 550 bottom end to make more power, but also from what i undertand the 550 and 650 bottom ends are the same or close to the same??

Except that the 650 never had provisions for a kicker. The 550 had one through the '79 model. Not sure if the cases changed for '80, other than plugging the hole.

when you say provision is there a whole bar or design im missing internally in the engine, itd be nice to just do a case swap to make it a kick.

The 650 wouldn't have the mounting boss for the kick start shaft inside the cases

im just guessing if you wanted you could use a 70s up to 79 550 case with kick and do the 650 top end and have a kick. im no expert just my guess.

If it’s just for the look… fake it. Lever doesn’t have to function….. with the small lithium batteries these days there is no real need for a kicker.

if i put one on id be wishing all the time that i could actually kick the bike over lol. seems so cool to kickstart a 4 cylinder bike, or any fullsize bike for that matter. 1200cc bikes getting kicked over sounds wild.

If you insist on going all retro with a kicker, don't forget to remove the electronic ignition and put points back in.

While you're at it, go ahead and remove all the instruments and suspension.

If you're going "retro", may as well go at least 100 years.

I know. I keep pulling for Ian, I really am. I was hoping that maybe he just forgot to tell us that the bike is running great and that he’s now only left with frivolous things to add to the bike, like a Kickstarter.

I saw a video some time ago of the bike "running". "Screaming" would be a better description.

If that is his overall intention, it might be better if it's NOT running.
