    I think you should talk to the university/college and have them review their hiring practices. Obviously the guy is a nutbar not knowledgeable enough in the practical application of electricity and electromagnetism to warrant his sure to be outrageous paycheck.

    Maybe you should see if you can get your tuition back while you're at it.

    I don't want to sound spiteful or mean, I just don't think the guy knows what the hell he is talking about.

    If the method he recommended worked for you, great, I just know I am sure as hell not going to short a battery with jumpers, I prefer my skin to not be acid etched, thank you very much.

              1983 GS 1100E w/ 1230 kit, .340 lift Web Cams, Ape heavy duty valve springs, 83 1100 head with 1.5mm oversized SS intake valves, 1150 crank, Vance and Hines 1150 SuperHub, Star Racing high volume oil pump gears, 36mm carebs Dynojet stage 3 jet kit, Posplayr's SSPB, Progressive rear shocks and fork springs, Dyna 2000, Dynatek green coils and Vance & Hines 4-1 exhaust.
              1985 GS1150ES stock with 85 Red E bodywork.

                        If you really want to get your stator cover off with jumper cables, you need this guy:
