A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.
A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.
Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.
Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...
If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.
If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.
looks good how much?
With shipping to Sargents, I'm in for about $160. One thing I wasn't expecting is that the seat is now very soft where it used to be like sitting on a brick.

Mine is like sitting on a brick, too. I just figured it was the nature of the beast... wow. That looks great. Probably has to feel 100% better too.
http://www.sargentcycle.com/custserv.htm They're very helpful, give em a call. I paid $11 to ship to them in Fla. and had it back in about 1.5wks.Is this 'Sargents' place online, or a local shop?
If it's the same one I'm checking out then it's online. Pearson, what version is that. I have been looking for one for my 78' GS550 and can't really tell which is which by the drawings:? . Yours looks snappy, I like:-D. The process looks a little confusing to me. What would you recomend?
Got any pics of it installed on the bike?
Are the seat pans the same for the 77 flat seat and the 78-79 stepped seat? I have two 78 stepped seats with good pans and the 77 flat seat on my bike is rotted to hell. Recovered your seat looks like the old flat seat and although I know that suzuki still sells the seat - recovering is 1/2 the price.
Question:
I have found the pic you were suggested for and was interested to know if you went for any foam replacement on yours.
Mine was in very good condition luckily. Some surface rust, etc. but fortunately the metal edges were very good. Like everything on the bike, the seat was mostly dry rotted and the vinyl cracked. Some of the numbers they were talking to repair the pans started to frighten me..but judging from JC's comments, there's some wiggle room there. I can also attest to the 2 week turn around time. How was your seat pan? ... I have a metal one sure your did as well, I have a bit of rust here and there. How was yours when you sent it in?
I tried to call them today about 15 min from closing today 8-12 on friday hours grr...and got a recording so I will have to try them on monday...since i want to get that special deal they are running this month.
Given I won't be needing it while I am taking the bike apart this winter long turn around doesn't bother me too much.
