You must remove the old wheel weights when you mount a new tire. If you don't remove old weights, they can become an extra weight the beads may have to counter balance.Comment

Think about it for just a moment.
Those weights were applied to correct a particular situation.
That situation has changed (with the new tire), it's about time to change the correction, too.
