    Farewell PartShark

Below is the response I received to an email inquiry. They were one of my favorites. If I ever own another brand, I'll be looking them up again.

We are no longer a Suzuki dealer as of April 1, 2013. Suzuki cut 200+
    dealers when they filed bankruptcy.

Wow, thats a bummer. What sense does it make to cut parts dealers? What hardship is being caused by maintaining relationships that could & would result in more sales for Suzuki? Anyone else been cut?

I didn't even know they went bankrupt. I do believe that they were a major creditor to GM when GM went bankrupt. They probably never got paid for all those Suzuki Chevys. I think it was in the hundreds of millions.

I too was not aware of the bankruptcy, but now I'm wondering, I recently ordered some parts from Babbitts and it came from another supplier And Babbitts (and others as well) is showing less and less OEM parts available...anyone else noticing this type of stuff?

I wondered what was up. I tried to order some fork parts and when I clicked on Suzuki motorcycle parts, all it said was ...Coming soon ? CyclePartsnation is my second choice parts supplier. GM? I'll take Suzuki over GM any day.

Another good reason NOT to buy goberment motors. ALL the small people got screwed
I would bet all the parts are being shown as discontinued because they cannot order any thing. Just listing the parts they have in stock

              Dang...

Suzuki has won approval for its Chapter 11 plan to stop selling cars in the US and concentrate instead on the company's powersports products. Judge Scott C. Clarkson of the US Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California approved the plan after the company's creditors agreed to the conditions.

Suzuki will now sell its motorcycle, ATV and marine divisions to the newly minted Suzuki Motor of America subsidiary under the Suzuki name. The new company will be wholly owned by Suzuki Motor Company. This is the final piece of the company's restructuring puzzle.

The company says it will now be able to grow its powersports businesses here in the US and also provide auto parts and service to current Suzuki owners through what's left of the company's dealer network. You can check out the brief press release on the bankruptcy plan below.

I remember the Suzuki headquarters right off the 5 Freeway, I think it was in La Mirada, CA. The building is still there, or it was a couple years ago when I was in that area. It looks kind of like a Pizza Hut. Its very run down.

So for us in the dark over here... who do we go to internationally now? I don't see a difference on Boulevard's website but they've not been the same since the departure of Ashley...

I just went to Powersports Plus and it redirects me to Partzilla.com...

According to what I heard from a Suzuki contact, most of the dealers being terminated were where too many dealers were in one area, or to cut underperforming dealers and/or multi-line dealers where Suzuki felt they were the underdog. Suzuki is pushing to minimize the number of competing brands under one roof.

While parts volume helps the bottom line, Suzuki sets dealers targets for new unit sales - and that's more important in their eyes.

We can get anything a dealer can get - sometimes more. Typically our pricing is competitive. It takes us a couple of days extra to get the parts.

We stock a small number of Suzuki parts.

We belong to a dealer network where dealers publish their old stock lists. SO sometimes we can find parts discontinued by Suzuki, but sitting on a dealer shelf.
