    Bad Buying Experience

I recently requested a speedometer sensor and one of our members, Kevin Liberman, sent me an axel gear/cable drive: a mere three feet from the part I wanted. After I notified him of the problem, he said I needed to describe the part better. Well, a "reed switch in the speedometer" seemed as good of a description I could make for the part. He has not responded to my request for a refund, only to offer me other parts if I return the drive.

Sorry Kevin, but this is not how you treat a buying customer. Thumbs down on your part service activity as a result.

You bought one thing, he sold you something else entirely, and he's keeping your money?

    Thanks for the warning.

Then why hasn't he been banished?

If you asked me for one of those I would also probably assume you wanted the the drive on the wheel.

Reed switch in the speedometer does not sound too much like speedomerter cable drive.
And I bet even if you did make this mistake you would fix it when the buyer complained.

I couldn't find anything. Do you have a link ? I hate to brand someone without a little more info. But for now I'll give it extra thought if a need to deal with him arises.

The original request was for a "speedometer sensor ", I and yes I would probably feel responsible if I sent out a part that a buyer did not want.(I know Bill has even done this when he had even sent a picture of the part before hand) Shipping is a big part of the cost and especially having to send it back.

Reed switch in the speedometer? Post a link or a picture of what you need. If it from a gs, would think that is a aftermarket speedo you are talking about.
A reed switch is like a proximity switch correct?
Used to measure the rotations of the wheel?
If it a standard part on a older gs I am not familiar with it but will open A busted speedometer I have and send it out to you free of charge as the busted speedometer is of no use to me.
I have been curious as to taking it apart anyways.
And I can help a brother out at the same time!!
                  Win Win situation.
Going to sleep now as I work third shift but will check this thread when I wake up tonight.

Ok, It is now morning for me (8:30 pm eastern time)
I have never had a Gs or any other with canceling signals so I will not be the one to help you out.
Hope you can get it fixed soon.

The reed switch is only on GS models with self-cancelling turn signals. The reed switch clicks shut (or open?) when the magnet inside the speedo turns. You can hear this when you push the bike and hear a little "ping ping ping" from the speedometer.

Flywheel: if you need a new reed switch (and not a new cable or the plastic holder), and don't mind some soldering, you might try Radio Shack. I know I've seen them there years ago, but who knows if they still carry them now.

There have been some threads unfortunately perhaps in the for sale section. Liberman, did pull a classic number on Nick (niclpnutl). A buy for a 1100ED clutch was agreed; Nick even sent Lieberman a clutch puller to remove it. Liberman apparently used the puller to remove two clutches and then sold them for more money after he found out how much they were worth. Damaged the puller in the process and just sent back the broken puller back to Nick. Real class that is.

There are more. I just did a search with "Lieberman" in the post; this shows up right away

                        I remember that one...

The reed switch is inside the speedo. You might try looking on Mouser dot com for it as well as from a used speedometer.

I'm surprised he hasn't replaced Eric Raley at the top of the deadbeat buyers list. He seems to have moved on, hasn't posted here in a while.
