GS1000S vs GS1000 Standard, what are the differences?

    Heya Folks,

I'm trying to find out the exact differences between the "S" model and the standard versions. I have had a basket case for a while now, repainted in the "S" scheme, but I'm just not sure how to tell if it's a genuine S or not. I seem to remember something about the footpeg position being different, is that correct?

"80" "S"'s had shorter exhaust & rear-set pegs, All "S"'s had lower bars. All "79" & "80" "E"'s ("L"'s not included) exhaust & pegs were the same. Of course the instruments & fairing

Australian S's were different on several details, such as the IP cluster. It's true about the 1980 version using reset pegs.

There is something about the SN too. I think the S's start with 52xxx (or something like that.) Post up the number and someone will chime in with the proper data.
