Finally back on the road again

It has been a couple years since I have done any real riding...less than 1000 miles. A couple surgeries later and some healing time, I can ride again for more than a few miles.
Last weekend I did a 400 mile trip on my old girl of a bike...purred like a kitten towing my homebuilt trailer. I traveled from Vernonia to Toledo Or. for the Glastonbury ren fair. I took all 2 lane roads. Hwy 47 to 101 S to 20 E and Toledo.

The return trip was Hwy 20E to 99 N to 47 N and home. 3 hours travel on the return and 41/2 hours getting there. Here is a Pic or two DSCF4302.jpg

So it's got a license plate, stop and turn lights? (No back up lights? )

I can tell from the pics that you can lean the bike while pulling that, but is there a limit? And what about top speed? How does it handle on the highway at 60 mph?
1982 GS1100E V&H "SS" exhaust, APE pods, 1150 oil cooler, 140 speedo, 99.3 rear wheel HP, black engine, '83 red

2016 XL883L sigpic Two-tone blue and white. Almost 42 hp! Status: destroyed, now owned by the insurance company. The hole in my memory starts an hour before the accident and ends 24 hours after.

does not require a plate. The tung rotates 360 so there is no limit to the bikes lean, pretty hard to tell it’s there unless on a rough road then you feel a little bucking. Top speed…I don’t know, have done I5 sweepers down southern Oregon way at 80 with it loaded with a spare engine and gear on it behind my 850L.

That is awesome to read and see, gustovh! I love stories of people getting back at it and enjoying the results.

Any residual pain after the ride?

Good to see you back at it.

(I recall the story/pics of hauling GS engine with a GS in trailer made with GS wheels.)

No pain at all, even my skinny butt didn’t complain.

Congrats, tickled to hear things are back in order. Wondering about the stopping. It's certain to take more effort to stop. Is it something you really need to practice and get a feel for, or little enough you just sort'f do what needs doing without much thought?
