    850/1000 exhaust

I trying to figure out if the exhaust system from a GS850 will fit a GS1000. I know different years have different mufflers. My GS1000 pipes are beautiful from the collector back. head pipes are very rusty. Would like to keep stock look if possible. Keeping a bike stock is pretty tough for me, I know. Trying to get my game face back on..

The 8V exhaust fits across the board on 8V engines. '77-79 and the 1100 engines from '82-84. However, pay attention to the collector inside diameter. Sizes may very. Some also have cross-overs, some don't. I have both a 8V 750 and 1000 and swapped exhaust with no issues. However I am using a 4-1 header. I also have a 550 stock exhaust system but haven't done anything with it. Saving it for a lead sled bobber build.

16V engines should follow the same logic.

    1977 GS750 (710 is getting closer)

    1999 Rav4

When I used an 1100 16v pipe on a 16v engine that was in a 1000 8v frame, I had to indent the frame near Home cyl exhaust area.

        My case - I have a '77 750 with a 750 engine and a '77 750 with a 1000 engine - exhaust swapped right over, no issues.

I've used both Kerker and V&H

Haven't had a center stand issue... yet LOL

Sorry it's been awhile. So, the exhaust sounds like a bolt on affair. Center stand stays. Does the 850 fuel tank bolt up? Tail section same?, side covers?, Once again , it's going on a GS1000.
