Fine example of a passive performance enhancer. Can't help but compare with the Yamaha YPVS but that came with complexity.
Seems like that in the 80's there was a lot to be gained with 'simple' ideas and almost every model year had something.
And what kind of surface is that they are testing on........... 3:50 onward.97 R1100R

Funny thing about TSCC is technically there's no swirl... The inlet charge motion is technically 'tumble'. Swirl is around the axis of the bore and generated in 2-valvers by offsetting the inlet tract to cylinder. Tumble is on the same axis as the crank and was pioneered by Ken Duckworth of Cosworth in the four valve DFV F1 engines. The tumble energy is converted to high turbulence by squish bands in the head, speeding up combustion burn rate and making more power.

TTCC. Twin Tumble Combustion Chamber... If only Kiwi had been working for Suzuki back in 1979.1983 GS1100E, 1983 CB1100F, 1991 GSX1100G, 1996 Kaw. ZL600 Eliminator, 1999 Bandit 1200S, 2005 Bandit 1200S, 2000 Kaw. ZRX 1100Comment

I'm not an engine designer, but I wonder if terms like "tumble" and "swirl" were defined by the engineering community back in 1980? Engine design was evolving quickly at that time, particularly in terms of making low emissions engines.Ed

Probably, by Ricardo.
Every good idea was Ricardo's first, or so it seemed at the time.
I discovered that at first hand. Every time I thought I'd came up with something new I found Harry Ricardo had been there, long before.Dave
