A BIG thank you

Hey all just wanted to take a moment and thank everyone in the forms for the absolute goldmine of information and expertise here.

Just 'finished' the rebuild on my dad's 82' GS 1100 (still gotta finish the trim and shorten some hoses/other odds and ends). But it runs!

He bought it off the showroom floor in 1982, and held onto it ever since. Bike last ran in 1997, and my old man hung onto it hoping he would get it running again sometime. I had the pleasure of stripping it apart down to the frame, cleaning everything that had seen some years, and replacing all the engine seals before cleaning/rebuilding it again. Felt so good to hear that engine start up this morning!

These forums have been invaluable in that endeavor. So many times I found myself with weird technical problems, and this forum was a constant source of advice, guidance and inspiration. Thank you to the forum sages for your wisdom, and to the newbies like myself that ask the weirdest questions. All of it has been immensely helpful, and I appreciate all of you.

Included are the (mostly finished) 1100 and my 'ole reliable 82' GS750, the 'training wheels' for the big bike.

Hope to see you guys out there on the roads sometime!

Like you I have found this forum to be helpful.
Not wanting to overstate the case but the combined efforts of a bunch of grumpy old dinosaurs, myself included, willing to give freely of their time and hard won experience, is a testament to....... something important.

Nice '82 750T. Mine was originally that color, but the paint was so bad, I had to do something about it.

An "E". Good. Get your hands on some side covers. They really complete the look. I personally prefer the look (and sound) of pods and a 4-into-1. A psychiatrist has told me this is not a problem.

A V&H "SS" (canister) exhaust is currently installed on my '82 11E, and it is a little 'tin' ier and quiet sounding than the V&H "Street Megaphone," which is several inches shorter and 'straight through.' APE pods complete the look and sound, at half the cost of K&N.

The maroon is a very acquired taste, but at this point I think I have a little Stockholm syndrome or something. A previous owner repainted the side panels black and though its a bit of a rough paint job, I think it looks better than the OG maroon.

I'll do my best! If there's one thing I've learned so far in this process its that all that I know is that I know nothing!
